While there were more awards for Cody Fajardo in 2019, he’s not going home empty-handed in 2021.

Fajardo won the Gord Barwell Award from Athletes in Action on the weekend. It’s presented every year to a CFL player “who exhibits exemplary Christian conduct and leadership on and off the field”.

Fajardo wrote on Twitter: “Very grateful to have a platform to share my faith both on and off the field.”

He was the Riders MOP nominee after finishing the season with 2,970 yards passing, 14 TDs and 11 interceptions. He was the leading rusher among quarterbacks as well.
