Sask winter road weight limits go into effect Monday December 20th

The highways ministry says winter weights will be allowed on all applicable highways on Monday, December 20th.

This includes central and southern regions.

The northern regions saw winter weights go into effect December 13th.

Milder weather this fall resulted in postponement of winter weight season this year.

Typically, these temporary weights are removed on March 15th to protect the highway system.

Winter weights allow truckers to carry up to 20 percent heavier loads during winter months to keep the economy competitive.
