Riders add offensive lineman, and extend two Canadians

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have extended two Canadians and added an offensive lineman.

The Riders signed long snapper Jorgen Hus and running back Kienan LaFrance to two-year contract extensions. They also added American offensive lineman Tommy Champion to the roster.

Huf has played 95 regular-season games with the Riders, including 14 games in 2021. Over that time, he has made 17 special teams tackles. The Saskatoon native has been with the Rider since beginning his CFL career in 2015.

LaFrance returns to the green and white through the 2023 season after playing all 14 regular-season games and two playoff games in 2021. The running back rushed for 43 yards and made eight receptions for 69 yards. The former Grey Cup champion returned two kickoffs for 31 yards in 2021 and made four special teams tackles.

A former Seattle Seahawk, Champion is the newest addition to the Riders. He played just two pre-season games with the Seahawks in 2021. Champion attended Mississippi State and over his three seasons (2017-2019). He played 18 total games as a Bulldog and in his junior year allowed only one quarterback hurry, his lone pressure allowed while helping the Bulldog’s offence rank second in the SEC in both rushing yards per game (223.6) and yards per rush (5.7).
