The peak of the Omicron wave still weeks away as hospitalizations rise provincially

Saskatchewan is seeing more cases and more hospitalizations as Dr. Shahab says the Omicron peak is still about 4 weeks away.

The province now has 190 hospitalized cases of COVID-19, including 21 people in the ICU.

Case count wise – the province reported 1223 new cases, and currently has an active case count of more than 11,894 in the province. Among the new cases 307 are reported in the Saskatoon area, 304 in the Regina zone, 89 in the south east region

The provincial test positivity rate is climbing – now sitting at 31%

On a positive note – provincial vaccinations saw an increase of 1794 doses with 1141 Saskatchewan residents receiving their second shot.
