Livestock research in Sask gets 5.1 million dollars in government funding

The Saskatchewan government has announced over 5 million dollars in federal-provincial funds for livestock research in 2022.

Agriculture Minister David Marit says the 5.1 million dollars will go to 28 livestock and forage-related research projects.

Among the projects, animal health treatments, improved livestock reproduction diagnostics and the use of forage species to enhance carbon sequestration.

In addition to the government funding for research, almost 500 thousand dollars comes from the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association, the Forage seed development commission and SaskMilk.
