The RCMP are issuing a warning today about fraudulent calls being made using the phone number for the Broadview Detachment of the RCMP.

The fraudsters are calling – pretending to be police officers informing the victim that they have had their social insurance number compromised. The individual asks for the social insurance number and at this point that information is used to commit identity fraud.

The call can appear to be very real as the call display will show a RCMP detachment phone number. A reminder that the RCMP will not call and ask for social insurance numbers.
