Frost Regina kicks off ten days of excitement

After a few days of being huddled up inside due to cold temperatures, residents will be looking forward to enjoying the outdoors with Frost Regina kicking off on Friday.

Frost @ REAL will be one of the venues that be will be hosting several exciting events over the next ten days. CEO Tim Reid is excited that Regina is embracing itself as a winter city.” We have the opportunity to light up the darkest days of winter, with the amazing lights that we see across our city that we associate with Frost, but even beyond that we have an opportunity to light up our experience, our civic pride.”

With Frost venue sites located in the downtown area, the warehouse district and at Wascana, Reid is anticipating plenty of activity throughout Regina. He is hopeful that over 100,000 residents from Regina and from across the province visit Frost in some capacity, organizers are optimistic that 60,000 residents will be active participants throughout the event. Active participants as Reid explains, are individuals who actively engage in the festival, including individuals dining at restaurants along with everyone who passes the gates at any of the Frost venues.

January’s frigid temperatures have presented less than ideal conditions for the set up crews for the all activities that will be featured at Frost. Reid noted that despite the weather, the crews have been working hard to make sure that everything will be ready to go for the festival.

The opening ceremonies at Rink Wascana will kick off the festivities which will be followed by Hockey Night on Wascana.
