Regina Public Schools will be following in the footsteps of the Government of Saskatchewan when it comes to changing its COVID-19 safety requirements.

After February 14, Regina Public Schools will no longer require adults entering their facilities or schools to show proof of vaccination.

The school division also announced that until March 1, every adult and student in a school, facility, and transportation must wear a mask.

The school division said that “they encourage all who are eligible, including students, to get vaccinated or get their booster,” adding that they also “encourage employees and students who choose to continue to wear masks and encourage families to continue to ask their children to wear masks in school.”

The Government of Saskatchewan announced that they expect school divisions to remove their mandatory vaccination/rapid testing requirements and mask mandates when the Public Health Orders are rescinded after February 28.

Regina Public Schools also said that they would continue with enhanced cleaning protocols in all schools, buildings and buses, upgrading air filtration systems, and using technology, program equipment and learning resources to support physical distancing.

As for extracurricular activities, field trips, tournaments, and elementary extracurricular competitions will resume following the February break.
