A Regina Police Officer is facing six charges after operating a police vehicle while his license was suspended.

38-year-old Constable Scott Ash, who has 12 years of service, is charged with six counts of Operation while Prohibited. The six charges are related to six different times Ash operated police vehicles.

On August 19, 2021, a Regina Police Service vehicle equipped with an Automated License Plate Reader emitted an alarm, signalling a suspended driver when it passed by a parked vehicle later identified as Ash’s vehicle.

An investigation discovered that Ash had his licence suspended on July 14, 2021, due to unpaid fines. They also found that Ash was only permitted to operate a vehicle with an ignition interlock device, related to a guilty plea to an Impaired Driving charge from August 2019.

The Regina Police Service was not aware that Ash’s license was suspended. Chief Evan Bray has ordered Constable Ash relieved from duty for thirty days.

He will make his first court appearance on March 24.
