Regina-based Protein Industries Canada sets up pool of money to expand food processing

Regina-based Protein Industries Canada is setting up a pool of money to help develop plant-based food processing in this country.

CEO Bill Gruel says Protein Industries Canada and its partners are starting with 2.5 million dollars and hopes to establish a 200 million dollar equity capital fund.

He says he’ll be talking to institutional investors, the venture capital community and high net worth individuals and anyone who sees the opportunity for Canada.

Gruel says Canada is capable of creating a new 25 billion dollar plant-based food production and processing sector in coming years.
