A 28-year-old man with a Saskatchewan driver’s licence was stopped in downtown Vancouver early Thursday, driving a vehicle that is said to belong to Premier Scott Moe.

CKRM has reached out to Premier Moe’s office for comment.

“A vehicle registered in Scott Moe’s name was impounded in British Columbia this week. The Office of the Premier will not be commenting further on a personal matter,” stated an email from Julie Leggott, deputy chief of staff for communications and press secretary to Moe.

The vehicle allegedly ran a red light at about 1 a.m. Thursday. Police pulled over the vehicle, ran a field sobriety test on the driver, which he failed.

No criminal charges were laid, but the vehicle in question was impounded for 30 days and the driver received an automatic 90-day suspension.

Vancouver police media spokesperson Sgt. Steve Addison  released a statement to CKRM in an email in regards to the incident.

­”Just before 1 a.m. on March 10, Vancouver Police stopped a driver after he allegedly ran a red light. The driver was a 28-year-old man with a Saskatchewan driver’s license. He was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup with Saskatchewan plates.

VPD officers conducted an impaired driving investigation, which resulted in the driver failing a roadside sobriety test and being issued an automatic 90-day driving suspension under the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also ticketed for the red-light violation.

“I’m unable to confirm any names, as no criminal charges have been laid,” said Addison.

Addison said no further charges are pending.
