Weekly report: Person under age 19 dies with COVID

There were 465 new lab-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan last week.
That from the province’s weekly COVID report.
The numbers were far less than the previous week’s 710 but these numbers don’t include cases detected by home rapid-antigen test kits. The proportion of new laboratory-confirmed cases was 0.4 per 1,000 population, 0.2 lower than last week, the province said.
There were also 22 deaths reported in the week, including one person under the age of 19. Three of the deaths were in people in their 60s, six in their 70s and twelve were age 80 or older.
Numbers of people in hospital are also going down. There were 270 people in hospital with COVID this week, compared to 321 the previous week. ICU had 14 of those compared to 16 last week.
Between March 8, 2020 and May 14, 2022 close to half of all cases were between 20 and 49 years of age and over one-quarter were younger than 20 years of age.
