Hours after announcing the numerous cuts, and other roster moves needed to start the season, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have made a trade.
Saskatchewan is sending international punter James Smith to the Calgary Stampeders.
The former University of Cincinnati product signed with the Riders as a free agent.
In return, the Roughriders will be getting a conditional seventh round selection in the 2023 CFL Draft and third round selection in the 2023 Global Draft.
If Smith gets into a certain number of games for the Stamps, then the seventh round selection may be increased to a fifth round pick.
The Roughriders start the season at home, Saturday June 11th against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
