Pats’ Howe to compete for a spot with Team Canada

Regina Pats forward Tanner Howe will look to build upon his impressive rookie WHL season by earning a spot with Canada’s U-18 team this summer.

Howe is one of 44 players invited to Team Canada’s selection camp next month in Calgary. The players making the final roster will compete for Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Red Deer July 31 – August 6.

The 16-year-old Howe led all Pats rookies in goals (27), assists (42), points (69), power play goals (11), power play assists (16) and short-handed goals (2). The Prince Albert product finished fourth in WHL rookie scoring and tied for third in assists.

Also invited to the U-18 selection camp is Pats’ 2020 second round draft pick Matthew Wood. The Nanaimo, B.C. product led the British Columbia Hockey League in scoring this season with 45 goals and 40 assists in 46 games for the Victoria Grizzlies.
