Morrow ready to show Week 2 success was no fluke

Jamal Morrow is ready to prove his stats from Week 2 were not just a one time thing.

The Riders running back was named a top performer in the CFL after he collected 126 yards rushing along with an additional 28 yards receiving in the Riders 26-16 win against the Edmonton Elks.

While Morrow’s breakthrough game happened in his second start with the Riders, he said it has taken a lot of work to get him where he is today. “It has been a three year process, so I’m taking advantage of every opportunity.” Morrow added “This is just the beginning I want this to be not just a one time thing, I want to make this a consistent thing.”

In order for Morrow to achieve similar success on the ground against Montreal as he did against Edmonton, he will have to accomplish that feat without starting centre Dan Clark. The 34 year old local product suffered a broken fibula in the Riders win against Edmonton.

Logan Bandy will be replacing Clark in the Riders starting lineup, Morrow says the team has full confidence in Bandy but also noted the Riders will be dedicating the rest of the season to Clark.

The Riders are expected to face a desperate Alouette team when they square off in Montreal on Thursday evening. Morrow said the Alouettes current record (0-2) does not indicate how talented Montreal really is.  He added there should be an extra buzz in the stadium as the Alouettes will be holding their home opener on Thursday after beginning their season with a pair of road games.

The Riders will meet the Alouettes on Thursday, you can catch the game on 620 CKRM beginning with pre-game coverage at 2:30 with an opening kickoff 5:30.
