Household Hazardous Waste Day coming Saturday

If you have hazardous household waste in your home, Saturday is a chance to make sure it’s disposed of safely.
From 9 to 4 p.m., the city’s public works yard at 2400 6th Avenue will be open for people to drop off their chemicals, fertilizers, aerosols, batteries, light bulbs, propane tanks and more for free.
The intent is to keep as much hazardous material out of the landfill.
Commercial loads are not permitted.
Material must be safely sealed and labelled to identify the contents and placed in a truck box or vehicle trunk.
If you can’t make it out there Saturday, check the city’s Waste Wizard tool to find alternate disposal options for materials year round.
Materials collected will be re-used, recycled or disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
