SaskTel is lending a helping hand to new Canadians fleeing Ukraine.
The crown corporation announced today that they are donating $50,000 to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress. A move that will put much needed dollars into the hands of those aid in the process of helping many fleeing the war torn country destined for Saskatchewan to get settled in their new homes.
“At SaskTel, we recognize how fortunate we all are to live and work in our wonderful province and we are pleased to provide this donation to the UCC as they tirelessly work to ensure Ukrainian’s coming to Saskatchewan have what they need to acclimatize to life away from their home,” SaskTel President and CEO Doug Burnett said.
Ukrainian Canadian Congress president Elena Krueger stressed the importance of a donation like this.
“We at UCC Saskatchewan are very grateful for this generous donation from SaskTel,” Said Krueger. “These funds will make an important contribution to assisting Ukrainian families arriving to our province to access essentials such as food, clothing, and safe shelter, while they heal from the traumatic experiences they’ve all endured,” she added.
Additionally Sasktel will also continue to waive international text message fees and long distance charges for SaskTel wireless customers trying to connect with family in Ukraine. Ukrainians settling in Saskatchewan will also be eligible for a special prepaid offer from July 4th to September 30th. More details are available in SaskTel stores.
