Government House has lots to do on Canada Day

Inside and outside of Government House will be a hive of activity on Canada Day.
Things begin at 1 at Government House Canada Day, said Carolyn Spiers of the Lt.-Gov. office.
“And it is Lt.-Gov. Russ Mirasty and Donna Mirasty’s first opportunity to host people, so they’re really looking forward to having people on the property,” Spiers said.
To that end, onstage performers include M.C. Felipe Gomez, the Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet and Chinese Lion dancers from Kung Fu Regina. She said the headline performer is fiddler Karrnnel Sawitsky.
Outdoor activities include Metis Yarn Weaving and a Red River Cart Display, among other popular attractions.
“KAOS Dogsports is going to be back with us, one of our favourite features,” Speirs said. “These are family pets that perform agility and fun tricks and sometimes they even invite the kids up to race the dogs so that’s lots and lots of fun. We also have the storybook princesses here, so if you’ve got a princess or superhero in your life, they might want to come on down and get a photo with one of these characters. “
Guests are also welcome to visit the newly dedicated the Saskatchewan Residential School Memorial, performances by the Regina Classical Guitar Society and the new Queen’s Portrait that’s on loan from Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
If there’s rain or other inclement weather, things will move inside.
