Its been a stormy start to summer. Another afternoon of warm air and changing weather systems brought a series of storms across the prairies, and through Saskatchewan.
Most of the nasty weather was focused north of Regina around Manitou Beach and Foam Lake. Eric Dykes with Environment and Climate Change Canada says the severe storms forced the closure of Highway 16 for a stretch yesterday afternoon because of grain bins on the road. Canadian Pacific Rail even stopped some of their trains in the area.
Pictures from yesterday evening show a few funnel clouds touching down, and in some cases the damage left behind.
The storms also brought heavy rain, and hail described in size between a nickel, and a gold ball.
Its believed as many as three tornados touched down, and Environment Canada is looking into reports of two more.
The storm continues to make its way east dropping hail and heavy rain in western Manitoba.
