Current and former Pats heading to NHL development camps

Fresh off the draft, NHL teams will be holding their development camps this week.  There will be a Regina Pat presence at three camps.

Goalie Matthew Kieper has been invited to take part in the Calgary Flames development camp at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex. The netminder competed in his rookie campaign with the Pats making 35 appearances, going 16-14-1-0, while posting a 3.68 goals-against average and a .876 save percentage with one shutout.

A second draft pick in the 2021 draft(35th overall) , Ryker Evans will be participating in the Seattle Kraken development camp starting tomorrow. The graduating defenceman had 14 goals, 47 assists and 61 points in 63 games for the Pats this season, ranking fifth among WHL defencemen in power play assists (24), seventh in points and eighth in assists.

After finishing his WHL season, forward Logan Nijhoff signed a contract with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, the minor league affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks. Nijhoff will now compete in the Ducks rookie development camp this week.

The B.C. product finished off his fifth season with the Pats this year Pats with career highs in goals (25), assists (24) and points (49) in 57 games, while scoring eight goals over the final six games of his WHL career.
