Heat warnings issued for much of Saskatchewan

While they sometimes say it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity, the next few days will be a combination of both.

Most of the southern half of Saskatchewan is ensconced in a heat warning, with daytime highs reaching 32 and humidex values going 35 or higher. Nighttime lows are expected to be near 16 degrees until Monday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said heat will begin building into the province tomorrow, and the warning may spread to encompass much of the south.  Already as of Thursday afternoon, the warning spread for most areas between Crieghton and Pelican Narrows through the to southwest corner.

Risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Temperatures will be closed to seasonal Monday and Tuesday with highs at 28, according to the ECCC Thursday afternoon forecast.
