A third person was charged in relation to a homicide in Regina that happened almost one year ago.
On July 15, 2021, the Regina Police Service started a death investigation. It was just after 5:00 a.m. when officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Princess Street. When officers arrived, they provided first aid to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim, 33-year-old Jason Bird, later died at the hospital.
The continued investigation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Mursal Abukar Hagi of Edmonton. Hagi was arrested in July in Regina and is charged with First-Degree Murder.
Two other males have already been charged with First Degree Murder in this case; both were arrested last August.
Hagi made his first court appearance on this charge in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
