Riders fishing for a win out east against Toronto

The Maritimes are set to turn green and possibly a little blue, as the Saskatchewan Roughriders will try and extend their winning streak to three games when they meet the Toronto Argonauts.

The game is being played in Wolfville, Nova Scotia as apart of Touchdown Atlantic. This will be the first time Nova Scotia will host a CFL regular season game. Halifax hosted a preseason game in 2005.

Plenty of talk this past week on the four game suspension issued to Garrett Marino. The defensive tackle will miss the next four games for three separate violations against Ottawa last week. The defensive tackle issued an apology on Wednesday for the hit and his language towards Redblacks QB Jeremiah Masoli. The apology came a day after Masoli criticized Marino and Riders Head Coach Craig Dickenson for a lack of a public apology following the incident.

Cody Fajardo will be looking to keep his current momentum going along with his success against the Argos. Toronto is one of three teams in the CFL that Fajardo owns a perfect record against. The Nevada product is 3-0 against his original CFL team. He had his career best game for passing yards against the Argos on July 1, 2019 with 430.

Over the last two games, the Riders starting quarterback has tossed four touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Saskatchewan is the only western team to lose to an eastern team in the 2022 CFL season when they were defeated by the Montreal Alouettes in Week 3. Toronto is 0-2 against the west this season.

One change to the Riders defensive lineup, Amari Henderson is out of the lineup at halfback due to an illness, Blace Brown will take his spot after being signed by Saskatchewan earlier this week. Mario Alford is also set to make his Rider debut against Toronto.

Toronto running back Andrew Harris is within striking distance of a possible milestone as he is 116 yards away from reaching 10,000 career rushing yards.

The rematch between the two teams will go next Saturday at Mosaic Stadium.

Touchdown Atlantic can be heard on 620 CKRM , opening kickoff is 12:00.
