The City of Regina will create a ‘Catalyst Committee,’ overseeing a feasibility study for a multi-use baseball stadium.

The committee will be co-chaired by Councillor Bob Hawkins and Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) CEO Tim Reid. It will aim to look at the costs and potential locations for a stadium while connecting with stakeholders and Regina residents.

Councillor Lori Bresciani, the acting deputy mayor, says that the study will look at a multi-use baseball stadium and the need for it in the City.

“It’s going to look at what would be the use, what else could it be used for, could other recreation user groups use it, is there a need for high-performance baseball, those kinds of things,” she said. “Really to determine if there is a real need and if that need is needed in our City.”

“See what you can figure out on the feasibility study and then how would that accommodate the baseball community as well,” she continued.

Currently, the City of Regina has 167 ball diamonds that vary in size and condition.

The City and REAL will each contribute $15,000 in funding to the study.
