The search for a missing 74 year old woman is continuing, and volunteers are being asked to check in with the search supervisor.

74-year-old Lois Chartrand was last seen around 11:00 a.m. August 4th when she was on foot mushroom picking northeast of kilometer 30 on the Hanson Lake Road (Highway #106). That’s north of the community of Smeaton.

She is an experienced mushroom picker and became separated from another person she was with, who began searching for her and called police for assistance.

Chartrand is approximately 90 pounds and is 5 feet tall. She was last wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket.

Police have communicated with Lois through a radio she is carrying  as recently as this (Monday) morning but she has not yet been located.

Heavy rain hampered the search effort last night.

Any volunteers who want to help out, especially those familiar with the area are asked to check in at the “Search Command Post” which is 32 kilometres north of Smeaton, on Highway 106.
