The Duke Is Ready To Prove He Is Rider Royalty

The Saskatchewan Roughriders returned to the practice field Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s game in Edmonton. The 4-4 Riders, who are trying to stop a 3-game slide, play 9 of their remaining 10 games against West Division opponents.

Receiver Duke Williams is up for the challenge, “adversity is hitting us right now and we just got to overcome it.  We still have a chance to be on top but we got take it, nobody is going to give it to us.” Williams, who is one of the highest paid receivers in the CFL, admits he has to be better.

“The last couple of games I haven’t been myself, just trying to do too much. During the bye week I talked to my friends and they reminded me you can’t do it all! I’m going to get back to focusing on one play at a time.”

The 29-year-old Williams was suspended for one game earlier this season for throwing his helmet at an opponent. He says if they are going to get out of this slump it starts by being smarter; ” It’s up to us to come out Saturday and dominate, stay disciplined and not kill ourselves with penalties.

You can get your football fix daily on the Sports Cage beginning at 4pm.
