A stolen truck and a police pursuit has led to the arrest of a 36 year old Regina man – who now faces a number of charges.
The harrowing events took place just before 1 am on the 10th of August. Officers found a stolen Dodge Ram truck in downtown Regina and attempted to approach the vehicle.
The driver chose to evade the police – speeding through several red lights, past several police units. Police attempted to use a spike belt to stop the truck. Flat tires couldn’t stop the driver – they kept driving on flat tires until they stopped on Aberdeen Street and then fled the vehicle on foot.
The Regina canine unit was able to subdue the driver.
A search by police netted fentanyl, meth an airsoft gun, money and other drug paraphernalia used for the purposes of tracking.
36 year old Nam Thanh Nguyen now faces seven charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, numerous drug charges and fleeing officers.
Nguyen made his first appearance in provincial court August 10th.
