I Love Regina Day set for this Saturday

A chance for Regina residents to celebrate the Queen City will return this weekend.

‘I Love Regina Day’ will return for the first time since 2019 with a day full of activities for everyone to enjoy.

Mayor Sandra Masters says this year is bigger than ever after the COVID-19 pandemic caused them to pull back their celebrations.

“Coming out of the last couple of years where we had that disconnection from community, disconnection from each other, it’s probably more important than ever that we celebrate Regina, that we celebrate each other, and we get together and just have some fun.”

The return also marks the 20 years since then-Mayor Pat Fiacco and city council founded the day.

“I would give kudos to Mayor Pat Fiacco for recognizing that community connection was exactly what we needed. I can tell you, even from the residents I run into, they talk about I Love Regina Day,” Masters added.

‘I Love Regina’ is based on the ‘I Love New York’ campaign and was intended to shift residents’ attitudes towards the community and improve the City’s image. In its 20 years, ‘I Love Regina’ has made great strides in improving the City’s image locally and across the country.

Features of this year’s event include free BBQ, treats and SWAG, live entertainment, children’s activities, and tipi demonstrations, with event activities beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m. at Victoria Park.
