Saskatchewan is already reporting 74 confirmed drug toxicity deaths by accident or suicide, and 189 suspected drug toxicity deaths in 2022.

The provincial coroner’s service released the overdose numbers this month.
The data is current up until the end of July. The province is on pace for about 450 suspected or confirmed deaths for 2022.
There were 388 confirmed drug toxicity deaths in 2021 with 24 suspected drug toxicity deaths. There were 322 confirmed and five suspected in 2020, and 179 confirmed in 2019. The number in 2016 was 109.
Of the 74 confirmed drug toxicity deaths so far this year, 19 of those were in Saskatoon and 23 were in Regina.
