Children ages 5-11 now eligible for Covid-19 booster

Children between the ages of 5 and 11 are now eligible for their third dose of the COVID vaccine as of August 31
Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab said receiving this booster dose is especially important for children at higher risk of serious COVID-19 illnesses due to immunosuppression or other chronic health conditions.

“I encourage parents of all school-age children to ensure those children have completed their primary series of a first and second dose and consider the booster dose,” said Shahab in the release.
Pfizer is the only vaccine currently approved by Health Canada for a booster for this age group.
Parents and guardians can book appointments online, or calling 1-833-SASK-VAX. Indigenous Services Canada and Northern Inter-Tribal Authority are operating vaccination clinics in First Nation and Metis communities.
A parent/legal guardian must be present to provide verbal, informed consent.
