Province notes International Overdose Awareness Day

It’s International Overdose Awareness Day.
Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Everett Hindley said in a news release that the day is an opportunity to remind people who use drugs, their family, and the public of the resources available to reduce the risk of an overdose… or potentially save the life of someone who is overdosing.
Proper use of take-home Naloxone kits can help save a life. They’re available in 76 communities and over 225 sites across the province.
Last year was the worst year on record for opioid-related overdoses in Canada, with about 21 people dying every day, the federal ministry of Health said in a statement.
