Man arrested for sexual assault near Wascana Park

A disturbing sexual assault happened in Regina Friday night.
A 33-year-old woman was running in Wascana Park just off of Broadway Avenue, when an man unknown to the woman rode up on a scooter behind her, tackled her to the ground, pulled her into the bushes and sexually assaulted her.
When she screamed for help, passersby were alerted and confronted the man, who gave up the attack.
Police were called and they arrested 19-year-old Noah Smith of Regina, who was charged with sexual assault by choking, suffocating or strangling.
He was remanded for a court appearance Monday.
