Hus looking forward to Football Weekend in Saskatchewan

 

Saskatchewan will be celebrating the gridiron sport with Football Weekend in Saskatchewan. A showcase of the game at all levels with games at the junior, university and professional levels taking place in the Queen City over a two day span.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders kickoff the weekend on Friday night as they host the Edmonton Elks at 7:30.

On Saturday, a football doubleheader at Mosaic Stadium will begin at 1:00 when the Regina Thunder host the Saskatoon Hilltops.

At 7:00, the football action will conclude with the University of Regina Rams squaring off with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The weekend will not only celebrate the provincial football teams, but the players as well.

Jorgen Hus, long snapper of the Saskatchewan Roughriders is one product of the Saskatchewan football program.

On Tuesday’s edition of the SportsCage, Hus joined Michael Ball.

The Saskatoon native played high school football at St. Joseph High School, before playing collegiately with the Rams.

Hus says he roots for all the football teams in Saskatchewan.

“Huge fan of football in Saskatchewan, doesn’t matter jersey you have on, whether it’s a Thunder, Hilltops, Huskies, Rams I like showing my support for all of those teams.”

The Rider long snapper says the coaches within the province are a big reason for the football success in Saskatchewan.

“We got great programs here in this province, you see all those junior players that make it to the pros, it reflects on the coaches, all the way down to the grassroots level.”

In between the two football games on Saturday, there will be a concert at Confederation Park at 4:00.

On Friday, the Riders and the Elks will begin with Countdown to Kickoff at 4:30, opening kickoff at 7:30.

Saturday begins at 12:45 with pregame coverage of the Regina Thunder and the Saskatoon Hilltops, opening kickoff at 1:00.

Followed by the Rams hosting the Huskies, pregame coverage begins at 6:45,
