A 33-year-old Regina man is facing charges of assaulting a police officer and a pair of restaurant employees Wednesday.

At about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, it’s alleged that a man assaulted a staff member and a security officer at a restaurant on the 800 block of Albert Street.

When police were called, a canine team member found a man lying on the ground nearby while interviewing restaurant staff. When the canine officer tried to rouse the man, he allegedly became combative and struck the officer.

The man, who was identified on surveillance video as the same man from the restaurant, was arrested.

Jacob Jay Kahnapace of Regina is charged with common assault and assault of a police officer.
