The Regina Police Service is advising the public of a sexual assault that’s said to have happened early Saturday morning in the city.
At about 2:40 a.m., a woman coming out of a business entered a vehicle in a line of taxis and Uber rides in the 2200 block of Dewdney. She asked a man, who she didn’t know, to take her to a certain address.
The suspect driver took her away from the address, to a place at the edge of the city where where the driver sexually assaulted the victim.
She was then driven to the address she provided and dropped off.
Police are asking for any assistance and are asking for caution when entering a unknown vehicle. When possible, book the ride with an app or by phone and confirm your name with the driver before entering a vehicle.
Ask the driver for credentials or identification and make a safety plan if you’re travelling alone.
Always report suspicious vehicles or drivers to police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
