Plane crash near Shaunavon leaves two dead

According to the Transportation Safety Board, two people have died after a plane crash on Sunday near the Town of Shaunavon.

The federal agency said that a Cessna 172 took off from Swift Current on Sunday morning, headed to Estevan for a pipelined inspection.

The plane crashed over 11 kilometres south-southwest of Shaunavon. Officials say there was a post-crash fire with both people onboard sustaining fatal injuries.

Two Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) investigators deployed to the site and arrived on Monday afternoon to gather information and assess the occurrence.

The investigators are continuing to work on-site on Tuesday.
