Sask feeder cattle prices mixed in latest report

Canfax reports 11,600 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan last week—a big increase over the 3,564 head the previous week. Despite this, year-to-date marketings are still 17 percent below 2021.Feeder steer prices ranged from $3.93 per hundredweight lower to $2.25 per hundredweight higher.

The biggest increase was for 500-to-600-pound steers–while 4-to-5 weights recorded the largest decline.

Only half of the feeder heifer price categories were reporting—with all being between $1.67 to $3.24 per hundredweight lower.Prices of live non-fed cattle in Alberta were lower. D2 slaughter cows were down $2.05 to average $104.25—-while D3 slaughter cows declined $3.52 to average $90.36 per hundredweight.(with files from cjww)
