Man charged after sending one person to the hospital

A 60-year-old Regina man has been charged with aggravated assault after one man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

On Tuesday evening, police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Ottawa Street, where they found a man unconscious on the ground after being assaulted.

Preliminary information indicated that the 60-year-od allegedly punched the victim in the head and body, then struck him numerous times with a gardening tool before walking away.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Sixty-year-old Robert David Brooks of Regina was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation.

Brooks made his first court appearance in Provincial Court on Wednesday.
