Riders enjoy new setting at practice this week

Thursday was a travelling day for the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they head to Winnipeg to meet the Blue Bombers on Friday.

Throughout the week the Riders were on the move as they were practicing at the University of Regina. With Thursday’s celebrations at Mosaic Stadium and the preparations leading up to the event, the green and white were left to practice in a different surrounding.

Each day the team would load up a couple of buses and travel from Mosaic Stadium down to the University’s football field where the team worked out Monday through Wednesday.

As they return from the bye, the Riders are hoping they are ready to reverse their recent trend of a 2-7 record as they head down the playoff stretch drive.

Head coach Craig Dickenson appreciated the University of Regina for hosting the Riders practices this week.

“The facilities 0utstanding, it was actually fun getting in the bus and visiting with the guys on the way over and coming back and it was nice to get outside on a such great week of weather and actually getting a chance to practice somewhere else, I thought it was really good, the guys enjoyed it. ”

Safety Mike Edem enjoyed the chance to practice a new venue as the team looks for a fresh start.

“The training camp feel, the guys were excited to get out there, it’s a little challenge but I think we handled it well.”

Receiver Kyran Moore was happy with his team’s effort this week.

“I felt this was one of the best weeks of practices we had in a long time.”

Swerve added the bus rides from Mosaic Stadium over to the University of Regina brought back memories of riding the bus leading up to high school football games.

The green and white are hoping the second trip to Winnipeg will turn out better as the two teams for the third time this season with the Bombers taking the first two contests. Saskatchewan enters the game with a record of 6-8 and in fourth of the CFL’s Western Division, while the Bombers are on top of the standings with a 12-2 record.

Friday’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM, with Countdown to Kickoff at 3:00, the opening kickoff at 6:00.
