Tanner Howe had a strong night for the Pats as he had two goals and a pair of assists.
Drew Sim got the win in net for Regina, as he made 22 saves.
Pats head coach and general manager John Paddock felt afterwards that the first half of the game was some of the best hockey his team has played this season while the second half was not as impressive.
He did say for an early season win, Thursday night was an ideal coaching situation.
“You win the game but you got about 30 teaching clips to show them to get better at.”
Alexander Suzdalev made his regular season debut for the Pats on Thursday after spending some time at the Washington Capitals camp.
The Pats will resume their three game Alberta road trip in Red Deer on Saturday, before wrapping it up on Sunday afternoon in Calgary.
