For the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, businesses and organization around Regina are showing their support with various initiatives.

Here’s what’s happening in the city and the surrounding areas today:

All week the Eagle Heart Centre has been collecting shoe donations. Residents can still drop off shoes at 1102 Angus St. between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Also, Fresh & Sweet has been selling Orange Shirt Day cookies all week. 100% of proceeds from cookie sales will be donated to the Orange Shirt Society.

Today at 10 a.m. Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty is hosting an Orange Shirt Day event near the grounds of the Residential School Memorial at Government House. The event will have a performance from musician Brad Bellegarde.

At 11 a.m. the Eagle Heart Centre is hosting a remembrance walk in honor of the children who attended residential schools. The walk will run from 1102 Angus St. to the 2900 block of 5th Ave. Then a community BBQ will be held at the final destination of the walk.

At noon, the Regina Public Library is hosting an in-person event for the stat holiday at Central Library on 2311- 12th Avenue. The event is free to attend and open to the public. It will also be live streamed on YouTube for those who prefer to attend online.

At 2:30 p.m, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina is putting on a day dedicated to education. The event will feature music as well as stories from local residential school survivors. The event will also be live streamed on YouTube.

If you’re heading to Moose Jaw today, the Wakamow Aboriginal Community Association, in partnership with the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a powwow and gathering in the Wakamow Valley at 1 p.m. There will be another powwow and gathering in the valley tomorrow, October 1st as well.
