Police arrest and charge man with aggravated assault and forcible confinement

Early Monday morning, police arrested and charged a 23-year-old man after an incident at a restaurant.

At 5:30 a.m., police were dispatched to a restaurant on the 400 block of Albert Street North for the report of an assault.

A woman with a small child entered the business and was physically dragged away by a man. After police arrived, an investigation led to a nearby apartment. When police entered, the woman opened the door and requested help.

The woman had sustained injuries consistent with an assault. The young child was also present but did not appear to have any injuries.

The 23-year-old was arrested and charged with assault. Police learned that he had previous conditions of a release order to have no contact with the female and that the man had threatened further harm to the female if she called out to the police.

The 23-year-old Regina man is charged with Aggravated Assault, Forcible Confinement, and Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order.

The accused made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday.
