For the first time this season, the Regina Pats (2-3) will square off with the Brandon Wheat Kings tonight in a divisional matchup at Westoba Place.
The Pats are coming off a three game road trip in Alberta where they went 1-2. They opened up the trip with an overtime victory in Edmonton but closed out the three game swing with a pair of losses in Red Deer and Calgary.
On Tuesday, Regina added some scoring punch with the acquisition of local product Sam Oremba from the Seattle Thunderbirds. The 17 year old forward helped the Thunderbirds reach the WHL finals last season and had 14 points (4G 10A) in 56 games.
During their recent road trip, a pair of key parts to the Pats lineup returned to Regina. Alexander Suzdalev made his Pats debut in Edmonton, while Stanislav Svozil played his first regular season game against Red Deer.
The Brandon Wheat Kings have only played a pair of games so far in the 2022-23 season both on home ice. They have opened up with a 1-0-1 record. In their first game they picked up an overtime loss against Winnipeg and followed that up with a victory against Moose Jaw.
Tonight’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM, with the pregame show at 5:35, with the opening faceoff at 6:00.
