UPDATE: Calgary man arrested in Moose Jaw after dangerous persons emergency alert

On Friday night, a dangerous persons emergency alert was issued to the residents of Moose Jaw.

The Moose Jaw Police Service investigators determined that there were firearms in a residence in the 800 block of 4th Avenue Northwest.

The MJPS, the tactical unit, and K9 unit responded and a search warrant was obtained.

Before they arrived, an individual fled the residence with a handgun and fired one shot at police. No officers were struck or injured.

After a perimeter was established, the tactical and K9 units searched the area for the suspect.

Just before 10 p.m., shots were reported near a residence on the 300 block of Ross Street West.

Police responded and located an individual in a backyard on Ross Street around 10:30 p.m.

Crisis Negotiators engaged the suspect in an effort to have him surrender.

Police then took the man into custody without further incident.

32-year-old Jirard Saddleback of Calgary is charged with:
– Attempted murder
– Possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking
– Possession of a prohibited firearm
– Possession of the proceeds of crime

As well as several other firearm and weapon-related offenses. Other potential charges are still being investigated.

Saddleback was also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being Unlawfully at Large out of Calgary.

He will appear in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Monday, October 24.

Three additional men and one female were also arrested in connection to the incident. Charges are pending for these individuals as the investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE:

Police have released that Saddleback was in possession of approximately 850 grams of methamphetamine which has an estimated street value of $85,000.

He was also in possession of a small amount of what is currently believed to be fentanyl.

Saddleback also had approximately $6600 in cash.

The firearm that Saddleback was found with was reported stolen from Calgary, Alberta.

He also had a variety of ammunition including ammunition and prohibited magazines for the firearm he had.
