CN Rail says it set a new weekly grain movement record earlier this month.
CN says grain shipments for the week of October 16th reached 806 thousand tons, exceeding the previous record by over 50 thousand metric tons.
The record follows CN’s second best September ever for grain movement from Western Canada, with over 2.64 million tons moved to market.
Chief marketing officer Doug MacDonald says CN will continue delivering results for Canadian farmers and all customers.
CN also says a bridge fire shut down a CN branch line in Northern Alberta October 5th.
A week later, the track was reopened to move grain and lumber.
CN says the company moved the equivalent of 20 Olympic sized swimming pools of material to fill in where the bridge had stood.
