On Wednesday the Saskatchewan Roughriders announced their nominees for the 2022  CFL Player Awards.

Linebacker Darnell Sankey was a double nominee for the green and white, as he was named the team’s Most Outstanding Player nominee along with being recognized as the Rider’s nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

In 2022, Sankey has played in every game with Saskatchewan and has led the team in tackles with 115.

Mario Alford was named as the nominee for Most Outstanding Special Teams Player. He leads the league with four return touchdowns.

The Most Outstanding Canadian nominee for Saskatchewan is receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker. In his second season, Schaffer-Baker leads Saskatchewan with 935 yards receiving.

Logan Ferland was selected as the nominee for top offensive lineman for the Riders. In 2022, the Melfort product has started 15 games at left guard, establishing a new career high.

Running back Frankie Hickson is the Riders nominee for 2022 Rookie of the Year. Hickson is currently sixth in the CFL in rushing yards with 533 yards.

The CFL will announce the divisional award winners on Thursday November 3.

The 2022 CFL Awards take place on Thursday November 17.
