Canada’s two main railways hauled a record amount of prairie grain last month.
CN says it moved 3.23 million tons in October, breaking a two year old record by 50 thousand tons.
CP shipments reached 3.14 million tons, surpassing its best month by 100 thousand tons.
The president of APAS, Ian Boxall, welcomes the record movement but says some farmers are still facing problems getting their crop to market.
Boxall says Canada needs the railways to provide adequate grain movement at a time when world food security is an important issue.
