Blizzard takes over Regina – Highways closed

Regina and the surrounding areas are coated in a whit e blanket as an Alberta clipper is making its way through southern Saskatchewan.

Environment and Climate Change Canada have issued a blowing snow advisory and a wind warning.

As the Alberta clipper makes its way through the province, it’s causing strong winds with gusts in excess of 90 km/h along with snow and blowing snow.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve through the morning hours.

According to the Highway Hotline, all highways in and around Regina are closed for travel due to drifting and swirling snow and poor visibility.

All highways in and around Moose Jaw are not recommended for travel.

Drivers should prepare to adjust their driving with changing road conditions.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

People should consider postponing any non-essential travel until conditions improve.
