Moose Jaw completes 2022 water main replacement work

The cast iron water main replacement program in Moose Jaw has completed its 2022 schedule.
Six locations in the city received service this year, with the former cast iron water main pipes replaced with PVC water line.
A record total of 3.47 kilometers of pipe was replaced, in addition to the road rehabilitation that needed to be done afterward.
Moose Jaw city manager Jim Puffault said it’s the first time all planned work with this long-term project was completed in the same calendar year.

“The successes are a result of changes made in 2019 to move to in-house project design and to adjust our Budget cycle to finalize budgets before Christmas,” said Puffault in a media release. “That allowed the Tender process to begin earlier than before and has resulted in us maximizing time available in our short construction season.”
