Sask on pace for record year of exports

Saskatchewan Trade and Export Development has highlighted several recent efforts to bolster the economy and Saskatchewan’s presence on the world stage.

Saskatchewan is on pace for a record year of exports.

In the first 8 months of the year, merchandise exports in Saskatchewan rose 44 percent compared to 2021, and surpasses pre-covid total exports in 2019.

Some recent international engagements include Germany based K plus S announcing plans to double potash production at the Bethune Legacy mine, adding 70 new jobs.

Saskatchewan-based Black Fox distillery secured a deal in the U.K. to sell its spirits.

The Singapore office assisted NorQuin to secure a deal resulting in the first shipment of Saskatchewan grown quinoa to the southeast Asian region.

A memorandum of understanding to advance energy partnership with Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates was reached.

Trade and Export Development minister Jeremy Harrison says over 50 delegations visited Saskatchewan this year to explore increased trade and investment opportunities.
